you can do a lot with Suno?

Artists be artists. Creating is the fun part. Being able to shape and change. And music is maybe just the enjoyable combination of vibes. So why not pick an instrument called Suno and see what it can do for me, as a musician?

Suno is an instrument that can be played in many different ways, and just like every other instrument, it allows you to get good at it over time. And just like most modern instruments, it can do things by itself. Cool.

It can generate an intire song, it can write its own lyrics and it can play it's own music. But, you can also take over control in one or all of these parts of the arrangement. Now it becomes fun.

I don't need Suno to create music

I will do just fine on my own. Enjoying the fun of playing instruments that is. Here are a few of my jams. Most of my music is just jams, playing with toys.

see   beyond   the   obvious

New things can be scary. But scary things can turn out to be great fun too. Most of the times they do.

Suno is one of those things. Will it take over music? No, it can't. Will it change music? Sure it does, like every new toy in music shaped the landscape. Music is like music does, it moves.

Was it just me?

For this song I wrote the lyrics myself. I wanted it to be a lovesong, but from the inside. I guided Suno to play the music, although in this one, I did not payed that much attention on the music in detail, while on other tracks shaping the music itself was my main goal. Here is was just about the lyrics, that needed to land.

Do you wanna play?

For this song, I focussed on the lyrics first.

After that I told Suno what kind of music I wanted to go along. I not only choose the genre and mood, but also told it to use certain instruments. By doing this I had much more control over the output.

Being a musician myself helped me with picking the right registers. Also knowing about structure is handy.

Come true

For this song I wrote a lyrics were uplifting, positive.

Suno provided the liquid drum and bass vibe I wanted. I did not pay much attention on the music. I did told it where I wanted verses and chorussen to start and end. Instruments can also be muted on command. Fun starts when you force Suno to play scales and progressions.

Proof of thought

For this one, I just used old lyrics I wrote a while ago, in Dutch. I wanted to take Suno for a testdrive and see what it can do.

I enjoyed the ride. I instructed in detail how the journey should be. Suno was able to play good music even when I wanted to cut some corners. At high speed there was still smooth as it cloud be. Suno can be my wingman.

What does Suno look like?

For this one I have to tell you, the visuals are mostly not Suno. Come true is Suno visual. All the other ones are made by me using differnt kinds of tools. I use FL Studio and Virtual DJ. I know, those are audio tools, but did you know they come with usable video editing extras? I also use blender and clipart, those are also free. When you use those tools to learn the game of visuals, you will be able to use cheap tools to do all the heavy lifting. It is more about storytelling than composition.

Is Suno stealing from musicians?

No, not really. Musicians, and many artists for that matter, have always learned and look to others for inspiration. It's within the nature of art to find inspiration and use it. Only non-musician can think it is stealing. If you want Suno to sound good, you have to do your part. You have to tell the musician how to play your ideas. And then Suno is 'just another' bandmember, pretty good. And an extra is the sound engineer to give you a good recording session.

People can tell when it is A.I. music.

Sure they can. Many can also tell coca cola from pepsi. Most don't even know how the industry works. Some real life artists maybe just as fake as the voice of Suno. As a vocal artist. And many vocalist don't play music that good. People want good music, don't be proud on bad Suno tracks, and you will be fine. Write your own lyrics, and know your music.

Can you make money out of Suno?

Of course you can. If you put in the work. But if you want to make money, the music industry is not the way to go. It is played by players too big for induviduals to have a good chance. And the time and work you have to put in to it, besides the investments in money, even before you make your first paycheck.... Almost every other choice of career will be more easy and beter paid for the first few years, if not decades. Music is something you do because you have to, because it is in your heart. Not for the money, but for the gold you may see along the way.
